The College of Pharmacy Practice has established itself as the major body within the pharmacy profession for accrediting continuing education (CE) events and materials.
The recent change in emphasis from "hours of CE" to "records of CPD" has created the perception in the minds of some providers and users that accreditation is no longer necessary. This is far from true, but in order to ensure that it is operating in line with current professional requirements, the College has revised its accreditation criteria and procedures to incorporate the competencies used in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's CPD scheme.
This, together with the other requirements of the College, will ensure that accreditation by the College continues to be a mark of quality for events and material, and that attendees or readers can include their participation as a contribution to their CPD record.
Participation in accredited events or using accredited material can also contribute to the portfolio of evidence required for continued association with the College and to the preparation of a submission for full membership of the College or one of its Faculties.
